Bile duct cancer is a very rare cancer.
It can happen in the part of the bile duct that is outside the liver or inside the liver. Cancer of the bile duct outside
of the liver is much more common. Risk factors include inflammation of the bile duct, older age, some liver diseases, and
exposure to certain chemicals. Bile
is made in the liver, stored in the gallbladder and aids in digesting food in the small intestine. Symptoms
- Jaundice
- Itchy skin
- Fever
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Changes in stool or urine (light colored stools and dark urine)
- Weight loss
- Bloated after eating
- Enlarged abdomen
Treatment
Treatments include surgery, radiation
therapy, and chemotherapy.
