Hometown My name is John Doe, I was born May 1, 1949, in Ft. Worth, TX.
High School
I attended Arlington
Heights High School in Ft. Worth from 1964-1968. I was active in football and baseball. Made All Area my senior
year as a linebacker. I was in drama club my freshman year. College I attended University of North Texas for one year before joining the Army. Military Training I joined the Army July 1970. Basic training
was at Ft. Polk, LA. After basic training I went to Infantry training. Finished top of my class.
First Duty
Station Arrived
Long Binh, Vietnam, February 1971. I didn’t see much action in Vietnam. I was assigned to security details
mostly in the surrounding area. I did experience a mortar attack on the outskirts of the base in June 1971. Luckily,
no one was hurt or killed. We never did find out who was responsible for attacking us. The whole incident happened
very quickly. Lots of night clubs on Long Binh, so I spent much of my time hanging out with buddies.
Second Duty
Station I
was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA from March 1972 – April 1974. I was assigned to the 11th Engineer
Battalion. I mostly trained other soldiers how to shoot and maintain their rifles. Ft. Benning was a great place
to be stationed. I met a lot of people there that I am still in contact with today.
