The Tomah Veterans Affairs Medical Center will host a Benefits and
Job Fair for area veterans August 16 & 17, 2016, in the Nursing Center at
Viterbo University, 900 Viterbo Dr., La Crosse, WI
5460 as part of its fourth annual Mental Health and
Homeless Summit. The Benefits and Job Fair, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 16, will provide a one-stop shop for veterans
and their families on a host of issues, ranging from eligibility to educational benefits to free medical screenings and finding
employment. Highland Ridge Assisted Living, 180 Scottie Drive,
Glasgow, KY 42141, invites all veterans and their families to a special Veterans Benefits Workshop at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
August 30, 2016. The VA estimates only 27 percent of veterans and
14 percent of widows of veterans, who probably could qualify for the pension, actually receive monthly checks and that there
are two million veterans likely missing out on $22 billion in pension benefits. By attending this event you will learn how you may qualify for relatively unknown, rarely used veteran’s benefits.

East Tennessee organizations are helping veterans with free legal advice. Veterans will be able to receive advice on issues
concerning landlord/tenant, veteran benefits, bankruptcy, criminal defense, consumer protection, contract disputes, estate
planning, child support, personal injury and more. Along with the bar association, the Young Lawyers Division of the Knoxville
Barristers, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office, the University of Tennessee
College of Law and the city’s Veteran’s Affairs Office are helping with the event. The clinic will host two sessions:
September 7, 2016, and November 2, 2016. The sessions
will take place from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office at 1101 Liberty St.,

and a team of volunteers will host their third annual Dentistry from the Heart event, Friday, September 9, 2016,
to provide a free day of dental care to more than 100 veterans of Howard County. The
line will begin to form as early as 7:00 a.m. located at 5111 Clinton Dr., Kokomo, IN 46902. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and services will continue
through 5:00 p.m. Patients are asked to bring a veteran identification card, picture ID and a chair.

The Leon
Mathieu Senior Center, 420 Main St., Pawtucket, RI hosts a representative from the Rhode Island Division of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs on the last Thursday of the month, every other month,
from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for veteran’s benefits counseling. Jack Ryan, a
veteran service representative with the Rhode Island Division of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, will be available by appointment to explain the many benefits that are
available to veterans and their spouses and/or dependents. Learn how to “navigate the system” and receive the

The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs has partnered with Maryland
public libraries to conduct outreach to veterans in the state. In Caroline County, Sharon Egerson, veteran’s representative for the county, will be available to meet
with veterans from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. every Thursday at the Central Library in Denton. She will answer

Veterans in Massachusetts who are reintegrating
back into civilian life are invited to participate in a free, confidential series of couples therapy sessions with their spouse
or partner. The project focuses specifically on how the veterans and their partners manage Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
symptoms, while addressing the issues in the relationship that may emerge. The project is headed up by Kathryn K. Basham,
a licensed clinical social worker working with Jean LaTerz. There will be a brief interview on the phone with the couple to
make sure they are prepared and that they meet the criteria. Both individuals in the relationship must be willing to participate

The Veteran Benefit Project is a public service whose personnel have
been trained to seek out Veterans and their Widows who may be entitled to the Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits. There
is No Fee and no cost associated with these services. Not to the facility, not to any resident of the facility and not to
their family members. They will work with any Veteran or the Widow of a Veteran, in obtaining their allowable benefits through

A Veterans Command Crisis Center
has been set up at American Legion Post 58 at 4724 Vulcan St. in Northeast El Paso, Texas. It will operate Tuesday through
Friday. The Legion has set up different booths
to assist veterans with filing for VA benefits, scheduling appointments, counseling services and enrolling
in VA care. The American Legion recently opened similar crisis centers in Phoenix, Arizona and Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In helping countless veterans over the
last two decades, Cheryl Cook keeps her brother and her father's experience close to her heart. Vallejo area veterans are referred to her by calling the Fairfield county veterans

A Glendale man is teaching veterans about money that is available
