(July 22, 2016)  The Veterans Action Coalition of Southwest Louisiana and the Department of Veterans Affairs are looking for Veterans and their family members who would like to Volunteer to assist other Veterans at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Lafayette. Volunteers are needed to assist fellow Veterans with everyday activities. If you or your family members are interested in volunteering, please contact Rae Logan at 232-Help or the Lafayette CBOC at 337-261-0734 and fill out the application to help Acadianas Veterans.


(July 22, 2016) Painting with a Twist Veterans event: Located at 107 Energy Parkway, Suite B, Lafayette, LA 70508. Seats are filling up fast, however, there are a few more seats available. The event is scheduled for July 30, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. No experience necessary. Painting piece will be a patriotic/military theme. Businesses or individuals who wish to sponsor a veteran or make a donation are encouraged to contact Rylan Choate of Veteran Peer Support INC at 337-706-4470 or vpsp.hq@gmail.com. 


(July 22, 2016)  Veteran Service Dog: A community organization is attempting to locate a local veteran in need of a service dog. The veteran must provide a copy of their DD Form 214 or Veteran ID Card and must be willing to drive to Lake Charles, LA 2-3 times per month for training. This comes about as a partnership between a local pastor offering to cover the cost of training and Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue providing training. If you are a veteran in need of a service dog and fit the requirements, please contact Rylan Choate, Veteran Peer Support Program, 337-706-4470 or vpsphq@gmail.com. First come first serve basis.
