Free Dogs
Trumbull County commissioners are teaming up with the dog warden to provide veterans with free dogs. Throughout the month of July 2016, any veteran can adopt a dog for free from the Trumbull County Dog Pound. The only thing you will have to pay for is the dog license. “Normally, an adoption fee is $50 and that includes a microchip,” said Dog Warden Gwen Logan. “We will include the microchip as well for the veteran, and that will be waived the $50.” A Veteran ID Card, VA ID Card, or DD Form 214 is required for free dog. Free Tickets The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services has a limited number of free tickets available at its Albuquerque NE Heights office for veterans, Guard/Reserve and active-duty service members for this Saturday night’s (June 11, 2016) Salute to Service Night Pacific Coast League baseball game between the Albuquerque Isotopes and the Las Vegas 51s. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The tickets are courtesy of Wells Fargo Bank–which is also sponsoring a free Fireworks Show immediately after the game. The NMDVS Albuquerque NE Heights office is located at 5201 Eagle Rock Ave. NE. Veterans, Guard/Reserve & active-duty service members can pick up a maximum of four tickets between 8am-4:30pm—and should bring a copy of a DD-214, a DoD active-duty ID card, military retiree card, a VA Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC), a Veteran ID Card or a veterans-designation state driver’s license to show proof of veteran, retiree, or active-duty status. Store Discount Transitional Design, 601 Towpath Road in Broadview Heights, is a consignment store, gallery and auction house that handles items including furniture, tools, appliances, decor and other merchandise from estates and seniors who are downsizing. On Veterans Day, November 11, 2015, the facility will offer a 15 percent discount to veterans on any items purchased in the gallery or store, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The discount applies to current service personnel and veterans.
