The VA That I learned to Expect

They give it to you after years of fighting for it and when your service connected disability really gets worse and you almost die like I did they take it away and in my case lack of medication and health care caused a stroke it will be another year or so before I even know if I will get back my old 80 % rating even after heart surgery and a stroke witch financially bankrupt me lost me home and cars living with friends and my wife and kids are living with family. So don't count on any help from the VA and do count on red tape slow process and no help what so ever. Good luck you will need it. Oh and after waiting a month for an appointment don't be five minutes late if you are the VA will say you are late and reschedule 30 days out and oh sir you did not make it on time and I know the drive takes you an hour but see you in 30 days good day.

VA Certifying Official

My job is to help veterans and their families with all aspects of the VA benefits process.  Each school should have a VA person there who should be able to answer any questions that the veteran should have.  If the school does not have someone like me there I would tell you to call VA at 1-888-442-4551.  They are more than able to assist any veteran or family member with questions. Now on my own VA experience when I went to school many moons ago we had no one.  VA was a process that was hard and complicated.  Had to do a lot of the stuff myself.  But today it is not that hard... IF you have a trained person at the school of your choice.  Hope this helps.
