How to Win Survey Results August 2014 William Hunt Branch: Army Like Waiting for Something
That Never Comes I have applied for compensation over a period of many years I am finally
considered 100% and drawing a pension for that.
It took many years and never giving up. Now I am trying
to get homebound since I am on oxygen 24 hours a day and confined to my home. It is a struggle from day to
day to not give up but I have found the hard way you just can't stop trying. Wouldn't you think for a Veteran
that has been seeing the VA for 60 years that they could look at your file and know if you qualify without a bunch of red
tape.

CLAIMS I HAVE ALWAYS FILLED MY CLAIMS WITH DAV ASSISTANCE AND NEVER HAD ONE
RETURNED DISAPPROVED THEY HAVE FOLKS WITH VAST KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE SYSTEM.
Randy Helmer Branch: Army Story My experience with the VA has been a good one. I am rated at 80%.
Was told not to go through the VA when you fill out the paperwork. I filled out all the paperwork by myself and then submitted
it. I had a state service officer continue to update me on the progress. Just make sure you have plenty of documentation with
your claim. That seems to speed things up.

Benefits, VA Very long story but I was involved
in an accident January 1968 where I was knocked unconsious for two weeks. A life was lost in this accident,
I was hit behind the head with an iron and hit the front of my head with the windshield causing me unconscious for two weeks. Also had a number of other body injuries.
I was not aware or was I told one could get assistance
from the VA. So I suffered with my mental and body issues for over 37 years. Over the last few years I was
told by some Vet friends I should file for PTSD and other related issues relating to the accident. Accident happened
while I was on active duty. My struggle with the VA has been mind boggling they give as little as they can and do
not weigh on the Vets side but on the Business side giving as little as possible. Most of the ones making decision
for the VA have never spent time in serving their Country or know what it feels like walking in our shoes. I am currently
at 90% disabled reaching for my hundred %. I received a letter from the VA asking me to file for unemployability
which will give me 100% base on not being able to work from my injuries. My issue is I should be rated
100% on my injuries not unemployability this appears the Government is trying to pull a fast one on the State and me. I have just put in for upgraded conditions from my injuries. Waiting to see what they will do now. I wish I had some help with all this or one of our Senators or Congress person(s) to assist. Oh well wishing
for the stars is only for dreamers. There are several other issues I have not gotten into it would take
a book to list them all but for the most part it has been a very hard struggle for me and I am sure other Vets.
