How to Win Survey Results August 2014 Jack Turner Air Force VA Compensation A VFW VSO has always helped me when submitting a request for VA Compensation. My strongest
recommendation is: Never try to do it yourself; obtain the necessary documents and have a VFW accredited
VSO represent you. VSO's are trained professionals and save you time and frustration with your claim - they
do it right!
John Finefrock Branch: Air Force Panic Disorder
In 2013 I was awarded 30% disability compensation from the VA for panic disorder.
My military service time was from 68'-72'. I was stationed in Vietnam from 70' to 71' at Phan Rang AFB. Upon discharge I wanted
nothing to do the government. I wanted left alone and would figure life out on my own. I did a very poor job of that. Like
a lot of Nam vets I didn't talk a lot about the war. I did not use my G.I. Bill or the VA for anything. I compensated my anger
and grief with sex and alcohol. I had a hard time keeping steady employment. I finally did my own research and after 40 some
years applied for compensation. I would advice all vets to learn the VA system, get complete military records and use their
county VSO rep for help and information.
Hubert Ballard Branch: Army Discouraged to File Claim
They say that we don’t have your files or there is nothing to support your claim
they are not going to give you anything for that you didn’t do that on duty. Nobody tells you what you can file for
some have diabetes, high blood pressure and they say you can’t file if it didn’t happen on active duty. The VA
no help.
Franklin Ray Branch: Navy Pursuing My VA Disability
I began my claim back in 1973. It took several months. I eventually
went to the DAV for a VSO. They did a great job.
I eventually ended up 100% IU.
