My husband is currently in the DOMS 123 facility at the VA located in Milwaukee, WI receiving treatment
for Drugs and alcohol, as well as treatment for PTSD. I'm in dire need of some kind of financial assistance ASAP. Where can
I go and who can I talk to and get some financial assistance? Please help!
Use the above URL to find a County Veteran Service Office in your local area of Wisconsin. They should
be able to help you file immediately for assistance and disability compensation for your husband. (CP) 4/15/2016
A2:
I would suggest checking into some community based programs or churches you are familiar with. Sometimes military organizations
will provide a temporary stipend to help out. The VA offers little or nothing to the spouses of veterans. There are also some
military relief organizations you might contact. First start with the branch of service your husband served. (CP)

Question #34
I am receiving
100% compensation for PTSD. Due to my condition could I get a grant to redo my bathroom? I’m afraid
of falling and getting hurt.
A1: If you are a Servicemember or Veteran with a permanent and total service-connected
disability, you may be entitled to a Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) grant or a Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grant. The
table below provides an overview of VA's housing grant programs for Veterans with certain service-connected disabilities.
Loss of or loss of use of
both legs, OR
Loss
of or loss of use of both arms, OR
Blindness in both eyes having only light perception, plus loss of or loss of use of one
leg, OR
The
loss of or loss of use of one lower leg together with residuals of organic disease or injury, OR
The loss of or loss of use
of one leg together with the loss of or loss of use of one arm, OR
Certain severe burns, OR
The loss, or loss of use of one or more lower
extremeties due to service on or after September 11, 2001, which so affects the functions of balance or propulsion as to preclude
ambulating without the aid of braces, crutches, canes, or a wheelchair (AP) 4/13/2016
A2: You should also contact your local
VR&E or Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation Office. They may be able to help you with a grant. There are more
grants available than through the VA because the VA is difficult to get the Grant for redesign/construction. (CP) 4/15/2016.
