I'm
a spouse of a veteran. And my question is why is there nothing for the spouses that has to go through the
ptsd, ghout, pain sleep ab. We go through the same if not more day in and day out those of us that stick around get noooo
help. What is there for those of us? Help from a wife of a spouse of 2 yrs of more husband served 24 yrs and some months and
still is being turned down for a lot of help. This is bull****
A1: Talk to a VSO Veteran Service Officer, at the VFW, DAV, or American Leagion
about Aid and Attendance. You can also take your husband with his denials and if it's within a year they can help. (PW)

A2: You can attend session with
your Veteran. Call the local Veterans Center or Mental Health contact. Go to PTSD.va.gov/public/where-to-go-get-help.asp I
haven't visited the site. Check it out. (FD) 6/26/2016
A3: Go to your Husbands Therapist and ask him or her to start a
group. We did that here at the Arkansas VA there is weekly group for the Veterans and a weekly group for the Spouses. Good
Luck. (JK) 6/26/2016
A4: It's not that the VA doesn't have anything, it a matter of who can help. First choice any VA
Vet Center. They have groups and counseling for spouses and children. Second choice is ant veteran organization such as the
DAV, American Legion, etc.Third choice, check any community organization who work with veterans and families of veterans.
(PW) 6/26/2016
A5: The VA offers spousal counseling. The Vet Centers also offer a huge range of counseling services
http://www.vetcenter.va.gov/ (PC) 6/26/2016
A6: I am a spouse of a Vietnam
veteran who, once got a rating of 100%, mainly for PTSD I was then entitled to health benefits. Does your husband have
a rating? Have you checked with your local vet center? They may be of some help. You can email me at qubella@yahoo.com I may have some resources for you. (CL) 6/26/2016
A7: Some of the other things that may be available is if your husband
is housebound or in need of a caretaker there is a program for the caregivers. You need to see the County Veteran Service
Officer or your benefits officer at the VA. (CKP) 7/29/2016
If you can help please respond to this question.
Question #94
Have appeal that has been sitting in Regional Office since 2013. What can I do to get
it moving?
A1: First I suggest
calling the VA 1-800 number to check the status of your claim. Then I would go to my local congressman office and have them
do a inquiry into your claim. Within 60 days you will hear something, good or bad. Other than that it takes an act of congress.
If you are in a financial bind the only other way is a Writ of Mandemus. (PW) 6/26/2016
A2: If you are serious
about this, you will call 1-800-827-1000 EVERY SINGLE WEEK! And ask for an update of your claim! they log everytime you call,
this let's them know that you are serious about your claim. (JK) 6/26/2016
A3: You can send what is called an IRIS inquiry to your Regional Office about
your concern. It will not move it along, but you may find out your appeal status. (PW) 6/26/2016
A4: If the appeal has not been certified for transmittal to the BVA (if it
is a VA Form 9 appeal) or if it is for a Decision Review Officer Hearing I'd do what JK, and PW have suggested. I'd
also go to my Congressional Representative. (CKP) 7/29/2016
