Question #99

I was stationed at Camp Lejeune. I have been waiting since 2002 to get my healthcare and compensation started.  I have myeloma, anemia, prostate cancer removal, cancer still in area, bone cancer, there should be someone out there to help the veterans, we fought for our country, where are the people out there who will fight for us? Where are they?

A1:  You should contact your local Veteran Service Office.  The water problem at Camp Lejeune has been recognized BUT illnesses have not been declared presumptive.  (RJ)  7/19/2016

Question #100

My Father was a Navy Vet during Korea. He passed last June 14th, but my Mother still lives. Is she eligible for any benefits?

A1:  You should take your mother to the closest Veteran Service Office.  There are MANY variables.  (RJ)  7/19/2016

A2:  You need the assistance of a Veterans Service Officer to help her file a DIC claim, DIC stands for Dependents Indemnity Compensation.  (PW)  7/19/2016

A3:  Both answers are right.  There are a lot of variables.  Your mother may be eligible for the pension for remaining spouses of war veterans.  But, that one is based upon her monthly income.  She may also be eligible for DIC if your father passed away of a service connected disability or if he was a 100% service connected disabled veteran for more than 10 years.  A lot of variables but set up an appointment with the COunty Veteran Service Officer.  (CKP)  7/29/2016
