My husband was an Air Force 100 percent permanent and
total. He passed away November 2014. I recently saw where a bill was passed for ED.
My husband had ED. As his beneficiary, am I able to receive money he was due for ED?
A1: TO put
is very simply, NO. ED would be considered a special monthly compensation. These are not awarded after death.

A2: RJ is right
that it is not possible to file for the service connection after your husband's death, but if he had filed for it prior to
his death you would have been able to submit a request for past due benefits with a substitute of beneficiary. But,
you usually have only one year after death to apply for the substitute if the claim was in the process of being decided at
the time of his death. See your county veteran service officer and take all of your husband's VA papers with you.
