Question #80

I have a 10% disability rating for hearing loss. My hearing loss has been recently rated as severe and tinnitus is also severe coupled with weekly bouts with imbalance while turning quickly. Am I qualified for additional compensation? New hearing aids were issued to me recently.

A1:  What you need to do is file a claim for an increase in compensation. Understand, you have use new medical information. The VA will not consider you for an increase if you use the same medical information that was presented on your original claim.  (PW)  6/11/2016

A2:   What you are describing sounds like vertigo. You can file a claim, but you have to have a way to tie it to your service. As for your hearing loss, you need new audio results that show your hearing has worsened. The tinnitus is probably 10%. That is the most you can receive for tinnitus.  (AP)  6/13/2016

A3:  Is the 10% for tinnitus or for the hearing loss. If it is for the hearing loss you may not be service connected for tinnitus.  Check out your ratings.  Also you can file the 526EZ for an increase in rating for hearing.  (CKP)  7/30/2016
