I am a veteran
and on 100% medical disability. My credit is bad due to many medical bills I accumulated before receiving my 100% status.
I have been paying a law firm monthly to get these removed and raise my score. They have been doing a great job, but I can't
afford them anymore. The cost is $79.95 per month. Can the VA help me with these bills or help me get my score improved?
Not having a good credit score really disables me from things I need, like a new car as mine is 26 years old now and
costing too much money to keep running.
A1: Unfortunately,
the VA has nothing to do with your personal credit score. You can go to a consumer credit agency for help. They don't charge
anything. They can help to lower your payments and can negotiate settlements with your creditors. You can make offers for
pennies on the dollar for delinquent debts or debts that are in collections. Paying a lawyer is never an option. They can't
do anything you can't do yourself for free. (AP) 6/6/2016
A2: The problem with the VA paying medical bills for veterans is that the
veteran must have notified the VA that they need to see a doctor in a medical emergency. (CKP) 7/30/2016
