Question #83

I served in the U.S. Navy from 10/10/1972 until 10/10/1978 and was honorably discharged. I have been told that because I served during that time I am eligible for hearing aids for my hearing loss due to the noise I was subjected to. If this is true. How do I go about applying for them?

A1:  Find your local Veteran Service Office and have them help you with a VA Form 21-526EZ.  (RJ)  6/14/2016

A2:  Also, if you have the ringing/buzzing in the ear you should file for tinnitus.  You would use the 21-526 EZ.  (CKP)  7/30/2016

Question #84

I am having trouble hearing people speaking to me. I would like to know if I would be able to get hearing aids to help me understand other people better.

A1:  You did not provide enough information for me to give you an informed answer. What is the character of your discharge? Are you enrolled in the VA healthcare system? Do you get any compensation currently? If you receive compensation or are enrolled in the VA, you should be able to get hearing aids.  (AP)  6/20/2016
